Notes Short photo of a manuscript, contents: complete copy of the Koran, binding: Ottoman leather strap with flap in original box. A fabric band attached to the back wall from the inside is used to push the muṣḥaf out of the box by pulling it. The box is covered with leather on the sides, lid, base and flap, the lid and flap decorated with gold floral patterns. The lid is framed by two wide gold strips and - offset inwards - by another strip that frames a golden bouquet of flowers. The artfully decorated cover on the spine, flap, covers and edges is covered with leather. The chestnut brown covers of the cover are framed by a wide gold strip (S-band). In the middle a mandorla in pressed gold with pendants. The mandorla filled with black painted tendrils on a gold background, with a black flower in the pendants. On the flap there is an analogous, circular ornament. Bridge of the flap framed by a wide gold strip, features: ivory-colored, thin, firm, smooth, slightly shiny paper, slightly stained or soiled towards the back. Between the bridge and the lid or flap, gold leaves are arranged like a band, sloping to the right. Before the cut was gilded, the paper block was trimmed: as a result, most of the original foiling was lost. Custodes (partly cut off), writing: Small, carefully written, fully dotted and vocalized Nasḫī. Highlights red and gold: red the bookmarks; gold depicting a green framed, golden almond, BSB provenance: Acquired in 1966 from Antiquariat Otto Harrassowitz, Wiesbaden (catalog 500, no. 166) for DM 2400.-, accession no. the acquisitions department A/66/1789 (source: accession book), literature: "Magnificent Korans from a Thousand Years" (1998), No. 15
