Notes
Short shot of a manuscript, Dated manuscript, old signature: Quatremère 3, BSB provenance: Étienne Quatremère (1782-1857), content: "The festive dresses of Tunisian news." Historical and topographical-biographical description of Africa and especially of Tunis up to the year 1724 AD, the probable year in which the work was written. However, the present part in six books only goes up to the conquest of Tunis by Carl V and therefore only forms the introduction to the large-scale work in which the author initially deals with the period from 1681 onwards, i.e. h. wanted to continue the story of Kairouan. The author is Wazīr as-Sarrāǧ and his work, at least in the present part, is a compilation of older works
