Notes David Ayalon (originally Neustadt) (1914-1998), a historian of the Islamic countries who specialized in the Mamluk establishment, and the author of the Arab-Hebrew hotel for the new Arabic language, published in 1947, together with Pesach Shanar. The archive includes books that were used in his research, notes and copies of the letters of Muslim historians and geographers from the Middle Ages and early modern times, manuscripts of articles and lectures he gave at the Hebrew University, essays about his childhood memories, about the academy and the compilation of the dictionary, letters from colleagues and friends, as well as various documents he received throughout his years. David Ayalon (originally Neustadt) (1914-1988), a historian of the Muslim world specialized in the Mamluk institution and one of the writers of the Arabic-Hebrew Dictionary of Modern Arabic in 1947, together with Pesach Shinar. The archive includes books used in his research, notes and transcriptions from the writings of medieval and early modern Muslim historians and geographers, manuscripts of articles and lectures which he taught in the Hebrew University, memoirs about his childhood, the academy and the making of the dictionary, letters from colleagues and friends, as well as different documents which he got during his life.
