In this file: documents relating to the Jews in Türkiye and Thrace. Among the documents: a pamphlet in Hebrew by Avner Levy (אבנר לוי) entitled “Persecutions against the Jews of Thrace in 1934” (הפרעות ביהודי תראקיה) as part of Classes in the Heritage of Israel and the East, published by the Yad Ben Zvi Institute for the Study of Israel in the East. (מכון בן צבי לחקר Israel) In addition to pages that include sources from books and articles in the English language related to the Jews in Türkiye in the twentieth century, as well as sources in the Ladino language. The file also includes pages containing handwritten notes as well as a letter in Turkish by Henry Soriano (REISI, HANRI), President of the Rabbinical Council of the Jewish Community in Istanbul, to Shukri Kaya (Şükrü Kaya), Joint Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Türkiye, Ankara. In 1934 regarding the attack on the Jews of Thrace after they were returned to their regions. The file also includes a list in the Ladino language that includes the names of candidates for the General Assembly as rabbi. |
