In this file: Documents and correspondence about the announcement of the Episcopal Commission and the budget of the clergy and the Islamic religious judiciary between the years 1955-1974. Among the documents: a declaration in English issued by the Episcopal Commission for Relations with Judaism regarding the position of Christians towards Judaism in 1973 (The attitude of Christians towards Judaism- A declaration of the episcopal commission for relations with Judaism) accompanied by comments from Islamic Sharia judges such as Hassan Amin al-Habash, judge of the Taibe Sharia Court, and Muhammad Habishi, judge of the Akka Court. Sharia law, and the comments of Sheikh Tawfiq Asalia, judge of the Jaffa Sharia Court, regarding the Episcopal Committee’s announcement. In addition, the file contains documents related to the clergy budget and the salaries of judges, including laws such as the Sharia Judges Law of 1955, the Judges Law of 1961, the Druze Courts Law of 1962, and the Pension Law for Holders of Offices in Government Authorities of 1969. The file also includes a document issued by Shlomo Nawi, Director of the Islamic Department of the Ministry of Religions, on the clergy budget for 1973. In addition, the file contains A photocopy of a 1973 newspaper publication in The Jerusalem Post regarding Muslim leaders' demand for the release of prisoners. It also includes correspondence between the Director of the Sharia Courts and the Secretaries of the Sharia Courts for the year 1974 regarding the dates of the initial hearings of cases. In addition to a letter from Youssef Desouki, Secretary of the Taibe Sharia Court, to the Director of the Islamic Department in the Ministry of Religions, discussing the request for equal rights enjoyed by the secretaries of the magistrate courts in the country. Moreover, the documents include correspondence between Shlomo Nawi and the Sharia judges in 1974 regarding reviewing the text of Articles 34-39 of the Iraqi Personal Status Law of 1959, in addition to a document explaining the Islamic religious justice system of 1974. The documents also include a document containing the system establishing the Sharia Court of Appeal of 1918.
