Includes a detailed 3 pages note by Ivanow on the history and method of making Islamic manuscripts. Also another noted attached to the back cover indicates that "the cover should be carefully revarnished with copal." Possibly was made in Kashmir by a Persian workman. ff. 1a-3 and 6-8 carry a prayer in Arabic and ff. 1b-4, 5, 9-12 come from a copy of Chihil ḥadīs̲ (kalimah) or Arba'īn-i Jāmī. An album made by W. Ivanow and entitled "The making of an antique Mohammadan manuscript, as illustrated by a dozen leaves from an old, damaged but beautifully illuminated and craftly inscribed Persian example. Contains 2 illuminated headpieces, dividers in gold circles. varies between 4 to 9 lines per page, Indian Nasta'alīq and naskh hand, rule-borders in colors. Manuscript. Antique stamped copper gilt Persian binding, 3 central gilded medallions bearing Persian mottoes, and 4 gilt corner pieces, stab sewn.
