Manuscript codex. Title supplied by cataloger. Layout: Various; leaves numbered in Hindu-Arabic numerals in red ink, upper left recto. Script: Written primarily in styles of nastaʻlīq in black or red ink; pointed. Decoration: Numerous illustrations and calligraphic examples with floral borders; page openings with content are frame-ruled in black or red. Origin: Item is undated, but likely copied in the 19th century. The colophon states that the author and calligrapher is Fadwá Gulāb Rāʼī, an inhabitant of Tajganj [Agra], and a student at the Madrasah of Sarkar Faiz East India Company (Angrez Bahadur) (f. 42r). Probably the Agra College, founded in 1823. Shelfmark: X892.8 M311. Also available as a digital facsimile. Gift of Alexander I. Cotheal (library bookplate inside front cover).
