Praise be to those who know our unknown and prayers be upon our Master. After following the words of skilled scholars and examining the investigations of the honorable scholars, it has become clear to us that there are four ways in the meaning of the definite article. The first is that it is placed on the specific individual, so it is the lam of the external covenant and is placed on the truth. The fourth way: It is placed to indicate what the addressee knows in absolute terms. As for it referring to a part of the concept of the expression that is familiar between you and your addressee, it is the lam of the external covenant. This was stated by Fadil Al-Issam in Hashiyat Al-Jami, so in this case the lam is shared. Morally for the four, this is how they are understood from the words of those with understanding
