I ask God for acceptance and the attainment of happiness, and to bless [61b] our master Muhammad, the owner of intercessions and high ranks, and to convey to him the best peace and greetings, and to forgive his author, his writer, his supervisor, and those who call for forgiveness and expiation of evil deeds. He is near, the answerer, the expiator of sins, and the protector of slips. Our Lord, forgive us... You are kind. Merciful, and God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.‎ Ms. codex. Title from title page (fol. 1a). Physical description: Number of lines per page varies. Written in very casual medium small to medium large naskh in black ink, with scarce use of red. Biscuit paper, hardly translucid, friable, with fibers and laid lines visible. First leaf damaged. Worm-eaten. Origin: Copy completed on Tuesday 17 Rajab 852 [Sept. 16, 1448] (colophon, fol. 61b). Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, Leyden, 1900. Microfilm negative available for reproduction. Incipit: Praise be to God who gave us the words of guidance, that is, Islam, and sent down His Book to His Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, with clear verses and detailed rulings... And after this, this is a book in which I mention from the edible animals and other things [---] to the eaten praiseworthy things, and its purpose is to point out the characteristics and attributes of animals, the one who looks at their names cannot.
