| Notes | A volume of mystical writing about the knowledge of letters, concerning the numerical value of letters and names of god. The volume is fragmented and contains the last pages of the first chapter and chapter two. It includes religious and spiritual advice (e.g. "wisdom does not dwell in a stomach that is filled with food"). The text is written in clear Naskhi, Arabic, with Greek title on the cover which is not relevant to the contents. Includes many tables in red filled with numbers, letters and words in black. Written on front cover: 'Treatise on amulets or charms calculated to obtain refuge from the Deity against the Devil and to God against sorceries or encahntments'. The original text was written in 1445. However, the creation date of this manuscript is not certain. Includes many references to other authorities (e.g.Zo-alnoun, Ibrahim Al Khawwas, Abolabbass al-Bouni, Abutaleb al-Makki ) and verses in Arabic from different poets. There is a note in Turkish in the last page of the volume, probably written by a reader. Incipit: والعزلة من امارات الوصلة Explicit: سلطان محمود نورالله |
