Notes Leaves of an ancient Qur'an containing the end of Surah 31, Surah 32 and the beginning of Surah 33. No date or place of writing, but the script points to North Africa or Spain and an early date is indicated by the Kufic headings and the absence of ruled marginal lines. Magribi script, probably Southern Spain. Watermark suggests between 1410 and 1479, paper from southern France. Decoration - sura headings in thick compacted Western Kufic script, infill in yellow, tipped with red and blue. Roundels containing instructions also in red, green and yellow. Yellow trefoils with blue and red dots mark end of verses. Almond shapes in yellow with a line and dots end some verses. Also round yellow dot with smaller dots around circumference. Some marginal notes in English perhaps by MacGregor Murray.
