Notes Date of early 16th cent. suggested by researcher (Muhittin Serin, April 1993) Illuminated unwan and colophon; text vocalized and enclosed within gold borders Title page and colophon give name of copyist as Shaykh Hamdallah (also known as Ibn al-Shaykh, 1429-1520); perhaps the single most important Ottoman calligrapher according to Irvin C. Schick (28 December 1989). According to Muhittin Serin, the copy is not in Shaykh Hamdallah's hand but was copied in its entirety, including colophon, by another calligrapher in imitation of his style (April 1993).
