Fol. 1a is damaged at the top, and about two lines after the Basmala are illegible. The legible text starts with:... In Edom there is grace and greater honor, and your endeavors are linked to His guidance and your righteousness is to His success... May God protect you from the evil of delving into the book of fruit and the ugliness of interpreting its meanings... etc. fol. 1b, beginning of the work and commentary proper. The first word: Ptolemy said, “The knowledge of the stars from you and from them.” The interpretation means that offering knowledge of the stars has two paths, one of which is presenting the planets and the people affected by them and the effects they have, etc.... The second word. Ptolemy said, “As for those who find the offering of knowledge to be the best part of themselves, they approach the image of certainty because of the divine power they have, even if they do not have much knowledge of the subject. The explanation is that Ptolemy wants to say Those who find the advancement of knowledge from the best part of them, from what we have previously mentioned in one of the two sides of the science of judgment, etc. - and its path is never from the east to the west, for the outsider comes from a distance from the region, and if he does not travel, then the outsider is from the presence of the region.
