First page of the Cairene Purim Scroll, which was written in 1524 to commemorate the deliverance of Cairo's Jewish community from the hands of Ahmed Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Egypt. The Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic verses alternate, with incipits written in larger script.
