Legal documents in the hand of Hillel b. ʿEli. Recto: deed concerning the sale of a book that had been left with Nissim b. Aaron and his son Aaron as a deposit for a loan by ʿImrān b. Joseph al-Barqī (who is described as maʾūf al-ʿaql ‘damaged of intelligence’). The document also mentions Abraham ha-Levi b. Yefet, and is dated Adar 1408 of the Seleucid Era (= 1097 CE). Verso: statement of Abū Yaʿqūb Isaac b. Elʿazar, who clarifies details regarding the will of Abū Kaṯīr the doctor (such as the use of abbreviations ‘5’ for ‘500’) after visiting him in his house a day before his death.
