Notes This album of painting and calligraphy, Walters manuscript W.671, was compiled in the late 13th century AH/AD 19th or early 14th century AH/AD 20th, most likely in Turkey. The signed pieces of calligraphy represent 9 different Persian calligraphers, including Sultan 'Ali al-Mashhadi, Sultan Murad al-Husayni, Muhammad Husayn, Ni'mat Allah al-Mashhadi, Muhammad Asghar, Shah Muhammad al-Mashhadi, and Muhammad Zaman. There are 31 paintings, the majority of which are executed in the Safavid style but are attributable to the late 13th century AH/AD 19th or early 14th century AH/AD 20th. They were most likely made in Turkey. The borders are polychrome and marbled gold-sprinkled paper. The brown leather binding decorated with landscape scenes and brushed with gold is contemporary with the compiling of the album.
