A good, complete copy, written in black ink, and the word (and know) in red ink, and the text is surrounded by a doctrinal frame. The book is attributed to Al-Shafi’i, but there is doubt in its attribution. He said in Kashf al-Zunun: There is doubt in it, and the prevailing suspicion is that it was written by some of the greatest scholars.

Bismillah Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon His Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all of his companions. The Great Master Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Idris al-Shafi’i al-Muttalabi, may God be pleased with him, said, “This is a book in which we mentioned the outward aspects of the issues in the fundamentals of religion that the accountable person must understand, and we called it the greatest jurisprudence... — and he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said (Whoever curses my companions has cursed me, and whoever curses me has cursed God, then the curse of God, the angels, and all people is upon him).” Praise be to God first and last, and prayers and peace be upon His Messenger...
