The Basmala... Praise be to God, who is still a mighty scholar, and may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad, who sent it to all people... As for what follows, the classifications in the terminology of the people of hadith have multiplied... Some of the brothers asked me to summarize for them the important part of that... — ... knowing the reason for the hadith, and some of the sheikhs of Abu Ya’la bin Al-Farra’ compiled it... and they classified most of these types... and God grants success and guidance in the year two hundred and twenty and a thousand. It was completed at the hands of Khalil Ahmad... in the year 1220 Dhu al-Hijjah.
