Praise be to God alone. May God’s prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and his companions. Our master, the jurist, the pasha, Sidi Idris. May God grant you success, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the best of our Lord. May God support him and perpetuate his good health. A man who protected the original, a blacksmith of the craft from the people of the Idrisiyah Zawiya, came between him and another blacksmith under the pretext of buying one basket full of charcoal. Al-Hakimi claimed that the second one was disgraced and was imprisoned for an hour allegedly. Al-Hakimi said that he was disgraced after one of my companions went to the blacksmiths and asked about their case, but no one testified according to what Al-Hakimi told him, but we forced him to think about imprisoning the other one, and then he discharged the man, except that what Al-Hamiki accused him of being disgraceful to him was not proven. Then when Al-Hakimi was discharged after him, Al-Hakimi took shelter in the middle of the market and called out in a loud voice and summoned the last blacksmith to Hazrat Maulana, and some of the notables of the people came to me, saying, “O God, this is evil, how can he be summoned?” The man was a man for the sake of our Master on a bucket of coal. So at that time I arrested Al-Hakimi. Rather, he was brought from outside the corner, going to sweep the olives, and I flogged him and imprisoned him, and he is still under my hand in the prison. Accordingly, the people have been preoccupied with supplications for the High House of God over the smallest matters like this, and this is out of negligence with the Makhzaniyya. If I walk on the people’s shoulders and deter them from what he mentioned, then the side of the Most High, God, is far removed from these things and far from them, so command me and there is no harm in that. It appears to you that we should leave people to their reprehensible ways, when we listen and obey, and this is what we are obligated to inform you of, and with complete love, service, and peace. 22 Safar Al-Khair 1282 Your successor, Hajj Hadd bin Al-Ayyashi
