The beginning of the manuscript: The book Al-Bayan fi Management of Human Health, written by Abu Al-Hajjaj bin Al-Jada’, may God Almighty have mercy on him (sic), in eastern Andalusia (...). Praise be to God, the Creator of things with His wisdom and the Ruler of the earth and the heavens with His power, who created man from clay and made his offspring from a race of dishonorable water (...) and since the science of medicine is the best, purest, and most honorable of sciences, He made the science of Sharia law the most beautiful of them, according to the words of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Science is two sciences. The science of religions and the science of bodies. I thought I would write a brief book [about five lines long] and we used it from the books of the ancients and the late ones to address the suffering of doctors, since it is a science in our time that has been studied and narrated. His seeker has gone and disappeared, and I ask God for protection from error and guidance in speech and deed.
End of the manuscript: To treat a fire burn, one should proceed to the place where the fire burn occurred with cooling medicines such as egg whites (...) As for the heat that is from hot water, before it forms sputum, olive water should be applied to the place and the place should be smeared with it or covered with ash water, for it is beneficial, God Almighty willing. Complete the book with the praise and good help of God, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master and prophet, our master Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.
