Praise be to God alone, our master, the jurist, the pasha, Mr. Idris al-Sarraj, and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you with the presence of our master, may God grant him victory. And after that, we have received Al-Makhzani’s letter and his insults when you commanded us to arrest the three honorable people whose master ordered them to be arrested, and my lord Jaafar did what he did to his guards from Al-Makhzani with how much he owed and fled to Marrakesh. Some of our companions followed him and we wrote him a card and ordered him to any place to find him. Our friend arrived in his country, Azayed, but he did not find him and there was nothing left of Makhzani. In Meknes, he traveled to Muksha and paid him the ransom and said to him: If you find my lord Jaafar in Marrakesh, pay the ransom to the minister, Sidi Moussa, for this is a reason for him. Accordingly, we have informed you to be in his hand, and for service and peace, your successor to the mazkiti, may God grant him peace.
