Notes
Casablanca, dated August 8, 1931, from the Commissioner of the Fifth Division to Mr. Commissioner, Head of the Police Department in Casablanca. I have the honor to inform you that the person named Moulay Ali bin Al-Hanafi is a Moroccan in Oued Dara’i around the year 1897. His father is Al-Hanafi and Amd Mama bint Abdullah, who lives in Derb Karlouti Nimr, 26 years old. His profession is a clerk in the real estate company of Derb Sayyidna. He is the one who asks for the famous surah. These are some of the lineages. This man was indistinguishable. The people at all who live in a heavy white town, and now he has the appearance of one of the rich notables who walks in the city and has a service, and I have grown to know that he rules in Darab in Dounville, and perhaps the Caliph of the Pasha of Casablanca informed him of this, and following some instructions, he mixes with the people whom we know, and they are suspicious of his presence in the two places. On this same day, I direct your administration to investigate his matter regarding the collection of the dirhams that he has with which to build a mosque in Darab. Carlotti: Yes, I could not or would we do that before today, because the aforementioned man travels a lot to Marrakesh and has been avoiding coming to my office and greetings signed with water.
