Notes
Praise be to God, our dearest earthly lover, the leader Farji, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you for the goodness of our master, may God support him. Then what comes to you are twenty-one loads of grapes, eight of which are due to be paid to the side of our Lord the Caliph, may God bless him, and the rest in number will enter the high abode. May God be on your hand as well. Peace and God bless you on the 21st of Rabi’ al-Thani in the year 1280. Idris al-Sarraj Praise be to God and to our beloved earthly jurist, Mr. Idris al-Sarraj, may the purest of peace be upon him. Our Lord, may God grant him victory. And after that, the 21 loads of grapes around him arrived, and we paid some of them to our Lord, the Caliph, may God honor him, as I mentioned, and the 8 loads around him. Likewise, we paid to the High House what was designated for it around it. And with love and peace, May God grant me peace and high status.
