Praise be to God alone and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our Master Muhammad and his family and companions, servant of the high station of God, the most knowledgeable jurist, the most learned, the most pious, the most helpful, the best, the happiest, Sir Idris Al-Sarraj. May the peace and mercy of God be upon you for the best of our Master, may God support him and grant him victory. After we have arrived, your dearest book has arrived and we have understood it painstakingly regarding the matter of the disputed water, the honorable Sayyid Al-Arabi bin Al-Mahdi Al-Wardi and Sayyid Ahmed bin Fadul Al-Nasab, the people of knowledge have signed the agreement. The amount of water was sufficient for them, and they assigned each person its own shift, with the exception of the aforementioned Mr. Ahmad, who fled himself and did not appear with the masters of sight, nor did he give anything to his opponent of the wages of knowledgeable and reliable people. The forced labor of your friend was paid by the aforementioned Mr. Al-Arabi from him, and his opponent refused, and accordingly they arrested him in prison. To you, arrest Mr. Ahmad until he gives a guarantor and is raised for his audacity from his death, your friend, and he abstained from what was obligatory upon him, and peace be upon him on the 2nd of Rabi’ al-Awwal of the year. 1287 Your lover Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Wardi, may God grant him success
