Praise be to God, and then your letter has arrived about the command of our Master, may God support him and grant him victory, that we pay the trustees of Al-Sayir Al-Saeed in the house of Adeel four violins to be directed to the Noble Presence on the camels and mules that come in the company of the happy children, and that we persist in directing each month, so we complied and were on track to implement it, but we stopped short of clarifying in detail what the violin includes and whether it is made from wheat that is marketed for the high side by God or is it bought at a price. Without compromising on its implementation, we asked the aforementioned trustees for clarification and payment of the sufficient dirhams for this, but they were informed that they were not given permission to pay it and that they had nothing in their hand. This is after they answered with what was in vain and they asked me the Nafoula al-Muhtasib al-Shami regarding its registration. Is it possible for the auctioneer who is in need to know it for a long period of time? He said a lot or (butr) and the mutati` and whether there will be couscous in it and be surrounded or not and how much each animal can carry so it can be borne by them. Their purpose for this is to strive for laxity that deserves blame. They entrusted the matter to their inferiors, so consideration required further negotiation with our master, the Caliph, Moulay Arafa, and with the worker’s successor. We brought the Corporal of Al-Rahwiyyin and the four whom he had appointed with him, and we informed them of the case. They informed them of the scheduled work in the Kamaniyya, that it was one hundred quintals, ten semolina, and the rest was pure and absolute, not the work of the auctioneer, as he works for our Lord, may God support him, at the hand of a famous private teacher. So we now assigned them to work as it becomes clear according to the requirements of their decision regarding it. Pending the honorable answer to this, we assured them of quality and expeditiousness, and they asked us to do it at the price for the order of the stored wheat, so the interest was included in that the price was for the healer to make that from the stored wheat, and we appointed them to work with him, and in effect, the first company was directed. Accordingly, we would like you to inform the Sharif of the knowledge of our Lord, may God grant him victory, with all that was mentioned, so that he may see his support in every action in it, as required by his fullest consideration, requesting the implementation of sufficient dirhams for the price of the wheat or pure, and an explanation of what is included in the violin. Is it sent in divided portions or in one lump sum? In what way is it preserved? How much is the work of the animal or camel? Is it for the leftover portion of it for the load of the store’s animals or not? May God bless you and perpetuate the presence of our Lord in greater glory and complete victory and support and for service and requesting righteous supplications and greetings, with the permission of Al-Muhtasib Al-Sirraj.
