Notes
Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and his family, our dearest and dearest earthly lover, and the representative of our Lord Al-Anjad Al-Ahdi, Mr. Muhammad Barkash, may God protect you and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you for the goodness of our master, may God grant him victory. We have received your first and second letter in which you mentioned that you presented to us what the Belgian representative and the Italian representative complained about and who prevented their merchants from buying wool according to what you presented to us, and that now you have received someone complaining that they were prevented. Here, from taking out the wool that they have, she is a shopper, and the complainant is the dhimmi, Jacob Kirub, the deputy of the Belgian crinoate merchant, and that he took the merchant there two nights, and a drop in the price of the wool occurred, and his plan happened, so I released it. Know, may God protect you, that the matter of wool was our master, may God support him. He pointed out that she should not buy from an ax and a meknes, and leave them together to clothe the parishioners due to the great need for them, and the merchants buy them from the marinas and other places, and then people flocked to him with an ax and a meknes, and he said, may God support him. All that was purchased from the merchants, they took it out and they did not agree on it, so we had intercourse with them and recorded what they had in full and we wanted them to release it any time they wished, and this was what we did to him according to the honorable order, and if you wrote this honorable, the Honorable, there would be no answer to our Lord according to what his honorable order was issued. 1289 Idris Al-Sarraj
