The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God, and the judge of Sijilmasa, Abu Salem Ibrahim bin Hilal, was asked about its text. Praise be to God, sir, your answer about someone who married a virgin orphan woman in her brothers’ custody, and she stayed with him for about a year, then some days she entered her brothers’ house, and they visited her with what their father had left to them of lands, palm trees, livestock, and other things.

Muhammad al-Tayeb ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Qadir al-Fassi (…) Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds (…) And after him, praise be to God (…) The interview reached the best of one’s ability, so it was correct except for what the sight had wandered from (…) and that is from the handwriting of its author and compiler (…) Abu Muhammad Sidi al-Tayyib bin (…) Sidi Muhammad bin (…) Abd al-Qadir al-Fasi (…) and that was on the twenty-fifth. The Great and Blessed Ramadan of the year one hundred and eleven (...) written by (...) Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ahmed Al-Fassi (...) he finished his manuscript, may God have mercy on him.
The copyist relied on a copy written by Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ahmed Al-Fassi in the year 1111 AH = 1699 AD, citing a copy in the author’s handwriting.
