The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (...) Abdullah Muhammad bin Abdul Malik bin Ali says (...) Praise be to God, the Possessor of favors and blessings (...) This book, in which I will mention, God willing, the numbers of verses of the Qur’an that people have counted in all horizons, ancient and modern (...) and I have named this book “The Exaltation of Thirst” in the number of verses of the Qur’an.
The end of the manuscript: The collection of verses of the entire Qur’an is six thousand and thirty-six verses in the number of Kufi, twenty-five in the number of the Levant, nineteen in the number of Meccan, seventeen in the number of the first Madinan, fourteen in the number of the other Madinan, and four verses in the number of Al-Basri. It ended, thank God.
