Notes
Praise be to God alone. May God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad. May God bless him in the position of our master, the jurist, the pasha, Sidi Idris al-Sarraj. May the peace and mercy of God be upon you for the goodness of our master. May God grant him victory. May the noblest of your knowledge forbid good. And you were saved from harm. The good Hajj Gharnait came to the corner and took from sight the eight supplies that they pay us to the house of the corner every day as a matter of custom, and it fulfilled itself, and even became flour. He served it as bread and half of it as couscous. He went with the jurist, Moulay Ibrahim, and we ordered him to come down to our place. We told him, “This is the place of rulings. No one should come down to it except with the permission of my master or the permission of the Pasha.” And his landing went as long as it went. Then Ibn Amri got up and took him into his Egypt. He began whispering about this matter and refused to give up satanic matters despite the fact that he was not fit for his interests or plan, because his treachery had revealed matters, and betrayal is not safe and neither is his home. It is corrupt, as the narration does not hide, and none of the harlots and cuckolds is fit for the plan, and that is by observing the private and the public with an unobtrusive eye. Accordingly, we have informed you to be mindful and to serve and peace. 4 of Jumada 2 1259 Your successor, Ali Al-Mazkiti
