Notes The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God, and from some of the manuscripts it reads: Praise be to God. These answers are from the jurists of Fez, may God preserve it and provide them with His success. The text of the first of them follows: Praise be to God, and may blessings and peace be upon His Prophet (...) As for the issue of the Arabs who cut off Muslims and plunder their money in a way that makes it impossible to call for help, such as brandishing weapons, they are warriors in the jurists’ terminology. End of the manuscript: All that was mentioned in the handwriting of the honorable Sherif Moulay Hamdoun Taher Al-Jouti Al-Hassani has ended. When these answers reached the president, Sayyid Muhammad al-Hajj al-Bakri al-Dala’i, and the people of Fez called for help in this regard, he called for the movement and went out to them until he descended on them in al-Mahalla. He fought them at the beginning of Ramadan in the year one thousand sixty-two, defeated them in a hideous defeat, and began to kill them until the people thought that they would never stand again. The Muslims were relieved from their corruption and arrogance for a long period and many years, and the matter belongs to God before and after. I finish. This text by Al-Nawazli contains the fatwas of seven scholars, and the institution has a second copy, No. 327/4, which contains the fatwas of six scholars. It is missing the fatwa of Ali bin Muhammad Al-Marri. - After that, a fatwa by Al-Barzali quoted from Al-Amiri’s explanation of the operations Font type: Moroccan
