Notes
Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master and lord Muhammad, his family, and his companions, our earthly lover and servant of the Persian Anjad, the leader, Mr. Idris Al-Sarraj, may God’s protection and peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you for the goodness of our lord, may God support him, and after, and after, Sheikh Muhammad bin Al-Raqqas Al-Assawi was listening in the presence of our hand, may God bless him, for a debt owed to him and his receipt of what he owed to the debtors and the tenths of our master. You arrested him and all of his brothers and put him in prison with you. While we were on Eid al-Fitr until he paid what he owed, the tithes, unless we cleared him of them and the debts, he paid most of them and what remained on him, he committed to giving a guarantor in it to his Lord while his discharge goes under. May God grant us and you success in what you have called upon him and may he walk with us and through you, my lord, his salvation and peace and love on the 17th of Muharram al-Haram in the year 1286. Praise be to God, our beloved jurist, the best scholar, sir Muhammad al-Saffar, peace be upon you. And may God have mercy on the best of our master, may God grant him victory. After that, the man around him was here in prison, so your friend Al-Hussein came to release him, so he released him, and the jailer, God, pushed him and took him to finish off his forced labour, and that is what we promised him, and with love and peace, Idris Al-Sarraj.
