Notes	Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and his family and companions, our master the eminent jurist and pasha, Sidi Idris al-Sarraj, may God grant you success, and complete peace and mercy of God be upon you, for the goodness of our master, may God support him. And after we have received your book, one of them is about the complaint of Ibn al-Miknasi al-Awdi and what he wants to make an alliance with the people of the city, and what the Sharif issued the obedient order in the first place, and what the Makhzen house reviewed, and what our Mawlana al-Mu’ayyad Billah ordered secondly, and the other in the Sharif’s complaint. My Lord Al-Fadil Ibn Abd Al-Wahd Al-Ismaili, and you ordered us to direct his two companions, Ould Hajjaj and Al-Hardhani, that the Sharif wished to invite him as the deputy head of the Alawite nobles’ union, and he forgave his two aforementioned opponents after their arrest, and Majbour Al-Khatir went, and the two prisoners are still in prison until your order is returned to us. Your consideration of it and the matter of Al-Awdi requires us. We have confined him and asked him to indicate who of the people of the district has fulfilled him so that the order can be implemented. He said, “If everyone mentioned is to be imprisoned, then they will show.” If not, then no. Obedience was not issued except by an oath, not by arrest, as you know, but it was not accepted, and we informed you and everyone in the presence of your friend Al-Jilani Al-Awdi, and your vision is broad and at full service, and peace, 22 Safar 1283 your successor, Hajj Hadd Ibn Al-Ayyashi
