Notes
Praise be to God, in the place of the boy, the student, the long-term beloved, the ideal judge, Sir Muhammad al-Sarraj. May God keep you as a shining lamp, and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you for the goodness of our master. May God grant him victory. Tomorrow, God willing, I will travel to Hayyana with my master Muhammad al-Wazzani. I was there for about eight days, and I wanted, from your diligence, to order my friend Abdel Salam Ould Maryam to plow for me about ten acres of barley in the country of al-‘Affa in a place near Mashta on the eastern side, and it is your diligence that You speak to him on my behalf and command him to plow in it, and include me from others. I have knocked on your door. My hope is that my prayers will be answered in it, as it was stolen at the door of my father’s sovereignty after our peace upon him. I knocked on it last year with ink for me and for others. I find it as I mentioned, but no one who took it from me has his right. And for your knowledge, it will be, God willing, a good successor to a good successor to a predecessor. And the whole family says, “What pleases the door of his jailer until another opens, and there is no good.” And love and peace be upon you and the good guardian, my Master Muhammad, in the beginning. And the conclusion is on the 26th of Rabi’ al-Nabawi in the year 1340
