Notes
Praise be to God alone. May God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad and his family, our master jurist, the most honorable, the best, the most beautiful pasha, my master Idris. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you, for the best of our Lord, may God grant him victory. And then the most honorable one delivered your letter that we should stop demanding that the Banu Maraz pay tithes of oil. Know, sir, that all their tithes are wheat, and we owe them oil according to their press, advance by predecessor, except that they had no press for their tap, and now it is today. They set up two presses there and started grinding the olives of the people of the corner who had gathered from Shawasha, purchase and plunder, so they put the two presses there. As for previously, if one of them had olives, he took it for them and grinded it here and paid the tenths here, and we are slaves to our Lord Idris. Let a person be sold in order to seek good for us at that time, and it will not be the first of your blessings with those of prestige, and it is sufficient for me to comply and for service and peace on the 27th of Shaban in the year 1279 Your successor, Mr. Muhammad, may God grant him peace.
