Praise be to God alone and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master and lord Muhammad and his family and his companions, our friend, the merchant Rumi bin Al-Manti. Now that we have received your book and recognized and learned in it what love you have for our side, that is the belief in you and what you mentioned regarding your companions who take your hand. We have delegated that matter, so whoever you want from the Agharafs and others will serve with you, and no one will be subjected to your face, subject to eleven mithqals. What you took from your friend is according to what we have, so what you have is ours and what we have is yours. So whoever strays from you is honorable and respected, and whoever deviates from that should be subject to severe punishment and blame only himself. And every need that befalls you with us, we will report it to you on the head and the eye, for you are more worthy of us than all the merchants, and this is what we inform you of. Peace be upon the 23rd of Sha’ban al-Abrak in the year 1258.
