Notes
Praise be to God alone, our beloved, the kindest, the earthly, the one who leads the long term, the happiest, the Murtada, Sidi Ghadres Al-Sarraj, may God protect you, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the goodness of our Lord, may God grant him victory. And I know that in the wool market, more than sixty men appear on Thursday and on Monday. They are exposed to those who come to sell the wool, buy it, and sell it on their hands, and among them are the sellers and buyers, the samsar, to the point that they buy it for nine shekels to a mithqal and sell it for two mithqals and more, according to what I was told. I myself went out to the market, and the only people who were in it were the barghazah, and I captured some of them on the night when they returned from that place. The one who dated him met with the father of our house, and they asked us for their clean ones, according to their custom. I replied to him, “The command of our Lord, may God bless him, is with you. He stops them from doing what they do.” They answered us, “They come to you so that you can resolve their matter for them.” They answered us, “They come to you so that you can resolve their matter for them.” We made them happy and told them, “The matter is in your hand, and therefore we love you.” May God watch over the poor and guide your companions on the day of the market. Whoever you find buying from it in bulk, whether he is a merchant or a broker, will hand you over to him, and this has not led us to raid the weak and love and peace on the 13th of Ramadan in the year 1278 Muhammad al-Mahdi, may God be kind to him.
