Notes Praise be to God, our beloved, the dearest, the earthly jurist, the jurist, the Mufaddal al-Sayyid al-Sarraj, may God protect you and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the goodness of our Lord, may God support him. And after that, I was informed that al-Muhtasib started to extend the hand in the shop downstairs next to the warehouse, may God honor him, at the door of Abu al-Junud, and I asked us to write to him in that regard, so we wrote to him according to the request, and he replied with the following text: And after that, I was informed of what the muhtasib told al-Sayyid al-Mufaddal al-Siraj about changing the sponge of the shop at the door of Abu al-Junud, and I knew. What I referred to as changing the sponge was due to its spoilage and blackening of the flour and selling it at an increase in price intentionally to violate the rules of the sellers and cause them to violate the rules of it. This is a violation of the honorable order to stop at the borders and engage in chaos by enticing the patrons of the shop to refrain from allowing his sponge to be tested and not agreeing with him about the price and attacking him in that, informing him that it is my business to do what our master, may God bless him, has instructed me to do, which is to change the corrupt and settle the problem. Prices and preserving the laws of the integrity of Muslim vendors and this shop, among other things. Yes, if you have the permission to exclude it and leave it as it is, then write to me to abandon it. We will rely on it. Otherwise, we will not leave it as a mess and we will not approve of the violation because of the imitation that results from it, leading to corruption of the vendors and lack of control. And on love and peace on the 24th of Hajj in the year 1317 Abdul Majeed bin Shaqroun, may God grant him success.
