Notes
Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master and master, Muhammad, and his family, our beloved, the earthly jurist, and the servant of our master, Mortada, Sidi Idris Al-Sarraj, may God protect you and take care of you, and may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the best of our master, may God grant him victory. As for the end of your letter, we asked in it about the case of the honorable, my father, Moulay Boubacar, who was looted from among the caravan, and with the honorable, my father, I know, may God grant you success when they returned the debt to the masters of the plundered caravan. The honorable people and the servants, with the intention of arranging for him from among them, each group of them appoints a man, a man to act on their behalf in arrest and release. Likewise, the group of the donkey appointed a man from among them and we paid them what they claimed for, whatever the credit occurred, and each one of the honorable and the donkey fulfilled his duty at the hands of the servants of Safar, and none of them had any left to speak with us or with those representing them, and we exchanged complete innocence with them, whether they claimed something against us or against others, for that is more appropriate for us. Is there any talk left in this invitation and for your love? And peace be upon him, and on the 26th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 1284, and as for my father’s master, what remained of his blood from him was for them, it was conveyed that it was my master Boubakar, the owner of Al-Khoudh and peace.
