Notes
Praise be to God alone May God’s blessings and peace be upon our Master and Maulana Muhammad, his family and companions, and may the blessings of the eminent jurist, my Master Muhammad ibn Talib, grant us success and you and your care, and may the peace and mercy of God be upon you, for the goodness of our Maulana Al-Mansour, may God support him and honor him. As for what follows, let it be in your honor to know that my successor and my cousin, Al-Jalali Al-Bouhid, and I sent to him love and affection for what you mentioned in your dearest book and I did indeed for him. (Peter) God was and we found him to be true to us, and he is better than those who were before him. And if he departs from the path of love and returns him to the path if he departs from the limits, because you are our father’s substitute, and we know you from our love in you, he came to you for a need and there was no good on our behalf. And I and our servants are imprisoned against God and upon you, and we are all to you. He came to you on a need and there was no good in it, then you are more deserving of us. I am absent and you are present. He took it to the hotel, and when we sent its owner to collect my belongings, the owner of (Amt) answered him and said to him, “The Basha has taken it, so here I am, I wrote to the Caliph to take possession of it, and peace be upon him.” And on the 18th of Rabi’ al-Thani in the year 1275 servant of the high station in God, Ahmad al-Rahman and Ali al-Uthmani, may God grant him success.
