Notes Praise be to God alone              And may God’s blessings be upon our Master and Mawlana Muhammad and his family and companions in the place of the righteous father, the singer, our distinguished counterpart, and his smiley-eyed counterpart to the test, the eminent jurist, the blessing, the one with the virtues specific to him that are not shared, Sir Idris al-Sarraj, may God protect you and grant you sovereignty and happiness. May God’s peace be upon that majesty and may God’s mercy be upon those characteristics of the best of our Lord, may God support him. And after that, we have received your dearest letter, the company of Al-Raqqas. With our letters from your blessed presence, and with the same receipt included in those whom our comrade, the writer, addressed after his greetings to your sovereignty and a kind request, I prayed for you to see the radiance of the face directed in the company of your blessed and preserved son, whom God approved of the eye, two knights from the storehouses of the honorable presence were sent with him, and they remained waiting for a whole day until they were informed that they would be staying at Sidi Ali bin Hamdouche for the burden of Wadi Al-Shajara they had found, and from the next day they sat on the way, as I told them, so their supervision was in Meknes. At noon time, the ruler went with them to the place prepared for their disembarkation, according to what we had provided the information to your Excellency. At that time, we met the boy, may God protect him, and we benefited from him. Your safety and well-being were granted by the Lord in accordance with what you wanted. He gave us a letter and we learned about the purpose you had commanded us to do. So we rode from his horse with him, heading to the Noble Presence, and we met with our Master the Jurist, may God protect him. He met him and his bearer with a guarantee of love for you, and with his effect it ended for our Master. God supported him, so he commanded, as long as his happiness lasted, to welcome him and to come with him, to provide one mithqal in the daily rations for each one of the aforementioned arrivals, to pay sufficient fodder for all their splendor for the duration of their stay, and to provide food for them every day from the happy booth, and all in the company of the boy, God made his plant good. And on that evening, which was the yesterday of history, our master the jurist summoned him to his place, and he went with us between dinner and what he shortened. May God preserve him in conversation and initiative, may God bless him and those who will continue to meet him. We will inform you of our master and his farewell with him, God willing. And here he is with us, we will not leave him and do not worry about his affairs until he fulfills the purpose to the fulfillment of what is hoped for, God willing, and with sincere love and peace on the 6th of Shaaban al-Abrak in the year 1281. From there, the books were delayed until Friday, in which the boy met with our master, may God support him, and he received his honorable call. Praise be to God, and tomorrow is the date, which is Saturday, and on it will be the gift of the people of Fez, God willing, and peace.             Muhammad bin Al-Madani Bennis, may God bless him
