The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and his companions. This is the authorization of Sheikh Muftah al-Din bin Hussam al-Din from our sheikh and supporter, Sidi Abdul Qadir, whom we mentioned above, may God perpetuate the benefit of his knowledge, the text of which is after the basmalah. Praise be to God, who created with His ability to conform to His will the nature of creation, and bestowed on each according to His ability what befits the creation of truth, so He taught Adam all the names and understood the subtleties and their greatness. He chose from the eldest of his offspring, pure people of his elite, to search for the truths of things and see what is hidden in the news, so he inspired them to his truths, taught them the anecdotes of his minutes, and made them the places where he deposited his secrets and the openings of the dawns of his lights, so they inferred and benefited. They compiled and excelled, and their noble statement became a revelation of the dilemmas of facts, and their gentle clarification became a key to minute problems.... And after that, the transmitter of this book and the bearer of this constitution is the righteous, the virtuous, the intelligent, the investigator, the scholar, the pious, the reviewer, the brilliant, the Ludha’i, Zain al-Abidin, and the heart of the prepared. Abu Muhammad al-Sayyid Abd al-Qadir was known as Ibn Abdullah ibn al-Sayyid Mustafa ibn Abi Muhammad al-Sayyid Abd al-Qadir ibn al-Sayyid Abdullah al-Mishrafi, the tribe of al-Sharif al-Hasani al-Idrisi, of Moroccan lineage, the province of al-Gharisi, al-Rashidi, and birthplace. (...) This man read the sciences rationally and transmitted them to the most eminent scholars and masters of the tolerant Hanafi religion. He also read to me and even heard from me the serial hadith with priority.
The end of the manuscript: Yusuf bin Abdul Rahman Al-Maqdisi, on the authority of Abdullah bin Qudamah bin Abi Zara’a, Tahir bin Muhammad Al-Maqdisi, on the authority of Ibn Al-Hussein Al-Maqdisi, on the authority of Al-Qasim bin Al-Mundhir bin Al-Khatib, on the authority of its author, may God have mercy on him. The aforementioned Abdul Qadir (...) This was written at the beginning of the month of God, Muharram, in the year two hundred and forty-three. It ended and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and all his companions.
