Praise be to God Tangier, the loving, rational, respected ruler of the magnificent French state, Monsieur Areño. After asking more about you, I love that you are always well. It is no secret to you, your beloved Sir, that our ancestors settled in Tlemcen a long time ago, and when the French army occupied the Algerian province, our grandfather, the jurist, Sidi Hajj Muhammad al-Maqri, the father of our father, emigrated among the people of Tlemcen. For the Moroccan tribes, and before we were engaged in the service of the honorable tribes, today we were deprived of the warehouse service, and we no longer have an official job in the honorable state. Therefore, we ask your beloved honorable servants to register us in the book prepared for the subjects of the Algerian tribes. We and our families fulfill the promise that was given to us with an ax from your predecessor, the Monsieur, and I have come to see you in the year 1902.
