Notes Praise be to God alone         And may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and upon the lordship of our master, the jurist, the eminent Pasha, Sidi Idris al-Sarraj, the most pure of peace, love, and honor from the best of our Lord the Imam. After the son of our master was reported to be clothed by our master Idris the Great, the deputy overseer brought Hajj Al-Tuhamy before us, and that was in the presence of Hajj Ahmed Al-Hajjam and some of the shepherds of the group, and we said to Hajj Al-Tuhamy, “Bring us ten handfuls of fodder barley.” The son of our master, may God grant him victory. He claimed that he did not find anything, and we imposed a heavy burden on him, and he bought it from a miller called Al-Shami, who was looking for it in Tamani. He and Mona informed us that Sharadiya had provided an increase of wheat as charity for the corner, so Al-Hajj Al-Tuhami, mentioned above, obtained it. When Sharif Al-Idrisi invited him to our shop and said to him, “You are selling crops in the market,” he claimed that he wanted to save the barley grain. This is what we know, and with love and peace, and on the 29th of Shawwal Al-Abrak in the year 1285 AH. Your successor, Ali Al-Mazqiti
