Notes Praise be to God alone, our master, the Anjed, the happiest knight, the best, the wisest, the pasha, the jurist, Sidi Idris al-Sarraj, may God’s peace and mercy be upon you, for the goodness of our master, may God grant him victory. And after that, sir, when I headed from your happy presence, I met with Ghazawi in Oued Maks, coming to your happy presence, and I asked him and he told me that the people of Zawiya said to me, “Do not judge us.” When I came, I found the country horrific, and I asked people whom I trust, they told me, when your dearest letter came, which you addressed with the son of al-Muhtasib, he gave it to a man to read it. He began to say something about it that I did not write, and when the people heard that, the good people, the people of Al-Hujrah, and the people of Tarjah gathered together and went to his house and said to him, “We love from God and from you. Write to the Pasha, may God bless him, and tell him, ‘This noble is not suitable for us or for you, because he is young and has no brains.’ He said to them, ‘Whatever it is, it will be against your will. As for my master, do not reveal this splendor unless the Caliph is arrested, and he and his son must be arrested.’” Write your letter, direct your friend to Al-Hajj Al-Wafi, and entrust him with the matter of searching and ordering the rulings until For Eid and your vision is wider and for love, affection and peace, Hajj Ahmed, may God grant him peace
