Notes Praise be to God alone. May God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and the companions of our master, the eminent jurist, the honorable Pasha, Sidi Idris al-Sarraj. May God grant you success, peace, and God’s mercy be upon you for the goodness of our master, may God grant him victory and perpetuate his well-being. We received your letter regarding what the honorable Moulay al-Mukhtar al-Alawi complained about to the three men, that they had looted his shop in the Zawiya market when the devil’s temptation entered it, and you ordered us to search. In his claim against them, and that we do justice to him in what he claims against them, if it is proven that he has plundered against them or against one of them, and if he does not prove that he has them against them, then the oath is on the plaintiffs against them, our Lord. When I read your letter and what you mentioned in it regarding the matter of our Lord, I brought the aforementioned complainant and looked at the contents of your letters, and I said to him that the one who filed his claim must prove what he claims, so they should be arrested and not released unless they fulfill what was proven to him against them, and if he has no proof or proof against them, then he should take the oath. So he handed over the claim and stated that he did not bring it to him, and out of love and complete service. Peace be upon you on the 1st of Hajj al-Haram 1281                                     your successor, Hajj Hadd bin Al-Ayyashi.
