The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God who raised seeds in the sky of the Caliphate and revealed from the lights of their glory what was hidden in the clouds of temptations (...) Since the state of the Alawite nobility in Morocco was the most honorable of states and had virtues and merits that surpassed the kings of the first era, and its virtues were worthy of what they would adorn the gardens of the vultures and deserve to be deposited in the stomachs of notebooks for fear of lessons (...) I was appointed for this purpose (...) so I wrote this comprehensive book. For the merits of the people that come from the news of the noble Alawite kings, with what the middle people of the people approve of (...) I have added to that an introduction to some of the notables who joined them in the path of time, arranging them according to the order of their deaths, walking in their mention the path of safety from afflictions, and perhaps those reports were sprinkled with some of the pearls of knowledge, the secrets of literature, and wonderful poems, so it came, thanks to God, a useful book and a collection of the virtues, comprehensive (...) and when it was collected and completed its work.
The end of the manuscript: The news about the state of Rukn al-Fakhr, the eminent Abi al-Makarim, our lord al-Rashid, may God bless him and his uncle, may he forgive him and have mercy on him. When my lord Muhammad al-Sharif died in Injad, as previously mentioned, his entire crowd gathered for his brother, our lord al-Rashid, and they pledged general allegiance to him and addressed the people of all those regions, Arabs and Berbers (...) and when the pledge of allegiance to him in Fez was completed, he lavished money on its scholars, showered them with great gifts, and extended the wing of pity to its people. (...) Then the judge of Fez, Mr. Hamdoun Al-Mezouar, issued the fatwa and preached to the villagers, the jurist Mr. Muhammad bin Ahmed Al-Fassi, and he left for the west with the intention of Mr. Al-Khader Ghilan, but Ghilan was defeated by him, heading to the palace, so he followed him, but was defeated by him in Asilah, so he left him and returned.
