The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God alone. Ibn Abi Hajlah said and called it the ignorance of the knower, and it included what was done to the common people at the end of the last ten days of Dhul-Qi’dah in the year seven hundred and seventy. Will my heart become greedy while it is in its ties? And it has been said to me that the sword of estrangement is cutting.
End of the manuscript: Whoever composed it, may God have mercy on him. Is it my intention to do evil to people? *** And praising the Messenger of God is his intention. I will praise him as long as I live, and even if I die, the poems after me will praise him on my behalf.
