Notes The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (...) Praise be to God alone, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of God. This is the writing of Nusrat al-Shurafa in the response to the people of al-Jaffa. After some of the brothers asked me, may God grant me and him success, to mention to him something of the virtues of the Arabs and the Quraysh over all other human beings, as well as the virtue of the good and generous tree and the orphan pearl that. End of the manuscript: I said, “It is obligatory for us, Muslims, to honor his kinship, may God bless him and grant him peace. Some scholars mentioned verses in their praise, and that whoever curses them will die according to Islamic law.” He said: “It came from the Messenger in the reports *** He who loves me loves his master (...) and it is not obligatory for him to pray behind him, nor *** is permissible according to testimony if he descends. He is legally killed according to the agreement of scholars *** if he does not repent of what he said and regrets it. If he dies in the presence of the people, he will not be shrouded *** and in the graves of the polytheists he will be buried. For every person who hates honour, poverty, humiliation, blindness, and ruin. The temptation of the vile, the one with hatred and the temptation of questioning, and the temptation of the soul with the eyes, and the lack of strength in certainty, are imposed on him.
