The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds (...) And then the Sheikh Imam and scholar Badr Al-Din Al-Mardani (...) wrote his treatise in the work Al-Mujib, including an introduction and twenty chapters, and it was difficult for some beginners to understand his saying “the arc of elevation,” meaning the height of the sun.
End of the manuscript: Because these instruments are signs by which the times are known. Al-Barzali, may God have mercy on him, has previously said that he said (...) Our doctrine is to accept the saying of the just custom in general regarding clouds and clear weather in prayer and fasting if he knows the times using sand instruments, drippers, etc. (...) And let us conclude this book with verses urging knowledge of the times attributed to Imam Al-Shafi’i, may God have mercy on him. It's over and done.
