The beginning of the manuscript: It was said that “There is no god but God” is the best remembrance because it has an effect in purifying the inwardly from the reprehensible descriptions that are worshiped outwardly. God Almighty said, “Is there anyone who takes as his own desire as his god?” So he denies the generality of gods by saying “there is no god,” and confirms the one for saying “but God.”
End of the manuscript: Imam Al-Nawawi said: It was narrated in Sunan Abu Dawud and Al-Bayhaqi with a good chain of transmission on the authority of Omar, may God be pleased with him. He said that when the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, finished burying the dead, he would stand over him and say, “Ask forgiveness for your brother and ask (such) for him to repent, for now he is being asked.” I finish.
